| Maurizio Russo, 29, died
Friday, October 5, 2007, while riding his motorcycle home from his work at
Trumpf Italy with a group of coworkers. Maurizio’s infectious smile and
unbounded joy will be greatly missed, but his bright star will continue to
light the heavens. Maurizio was born on June 29, 1978, in Magenta, Milan, Italy, the son of Elio and Milena Mascarini Russo. Maurizio moved with his family to Bloomington in 1990, attending Batchelor School. He graduated from Harmony School in 1996 and attended Indiana University for two years. Maurizio’s love of people was reflected in his love of languages, excelling in Spanish, Vietnamese, French, Thai, German, Portuguese, and Chinese in addition to English. After only two weeks interacting with people from another country, Maurizio could speak the language. Maurizio enjoyed imitating accents and mannerisms of people from different regions of the USA, always bringing laughter and amazement at his abilities. From 2000-2002, Maurizio lived and worked with his father in Vietnam. His ability to diagnose and repair factory machines and computers was legendary. He never knew a computer he couldn’t repair and he always added amazing features to convert a computer into a powerhouse. In 2004, Trumpf Italy hired Maurizio to travel to Trumpf factories throughout Europe to troubleshoot factory machines and laser equipment. With his love of machines, Maurizio especially enjoyed using his TomTom to find his way to new factory locations in Europe. In addition to his parents, Maurizio is survived by his twin sisters, Valeria (Rob) Foreman in Oceanside, California, and Deborah Russo in Linate, Italy; paternal grandmother, Franca De Donato; Uncle Ivano and Aunt Stefania Mascarini Russo; Aunt Dorothy Piens; Uncle Nando and Aunt Marisa Russo Greco; Uncle Sergio and Aunt Anna Pozzi Russo; Uncle Gigi (Pina); cousins Nadia, Elena, Ivan (Roberta), Andrea, Claudio, Silvia, Francesco; twin second cousins Jacopo and Sophia, all in Italy. Maurizio was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, paternal grandfather, his aunt Pina, and his uncle Enrico Mascarini. The funeral for Maurizio was held in Linate, Italy, on Tuesday, October 9. Trumpf factories throughout Italy were closed in memory of Maurizio. Interment of ashes occurred on October 12.
