| Maurice E. Brockman, “Brock,”
age 85, died peacefully at home September 3, 2007. Born June 19, 1922
in Alexandria, IN, he was the son of Lova and Charles Brockman. He was a lifelong lover of learning, starting with George Williams College and concluding his education at Christian Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity. In 1973 he was ordained an Elder with the United Methodist Church. He was a World War II Veteran. He was Administrative Director at Mount Vernon from 1952 to 1967. He served as a pastor at Plainfield, Centerville, Fort Branch, Indianapolis, and Bloomfield from where he retired in 1987. He was a lifelong lover of camping and had an interest in the developmentally disadvantaged. He served as the director at Camp Letts and Tapawingo. He was involved in many community and volunteer organizations, most recently with the American Council for the Blind. He is survived by his sister, Estella Schacht; a son, David E. Brockman; a daughter, Teresa Littrell; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He donated his body to the Indianapolis University Medical Center. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held November 3, 2007, at 2 p.m. in First United Methodist Church, Bloomington. |
